About Runbook

Runbook publishes tested, plain-English guides for the specific tech problems people actually search for — not padded rewrites of the same generic advice. Every article on this site starts with a real, reproduced problem, gets solved step by step on an actual machine, and is written by someone who did the fix themselves before writing it down.

Our editorial standard

• We reproduce the problem ourselves before writing about the fix — we don't summarize other articles.
• Every command, menu path, and setting is checked against the current version of the software at the time of publishing.
• Guides are re-verified when the underlying software changes significantly, and the "last verified" date at the bottom of each article reflects that.
• We tell you when something is a real security or data-loss risk, even if that makes the guide less tidy.

Who writes these

Jordan has spent 12 years in IT support and DevOps roles before joining Runbook full-time. Every guide on this site is tested on a real machine before it's published, and re-checked whenever the underlying software changes.
